While Susan travels this country in search of primitives to grace your home and garden, many pieces are being imported from Eastern Europe and Asia. These can be exciting and fun, and generally less expensive than a true American Country primitive. |
PRIMITIVES Webster defines "primitive" as:
In the antique business, for many of us this means items used by colonists, pioneers and other early settlers of an area, aka American Country. These include smaller household and farm items, as well as furniture. Stoneware and crocks, particularly those with cobalt decoration, are available and affordable in most parts of the country. Primitive pine furniture, much with old painted finishes, blends so well with contemporary styles and adds accent to any décor.
Mustard, cottage red and colonial blue are authentic colors often seen in such pieces. |
