Hard back books at paperback prices.
On April 2, 2006, Sow's Ear Books hosted the State of Arkansas kick-off event for the "Big Read" for which everyone was to read The Great Gatsby. The Big Read, sponsored by The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) in partnership with Arts Midwest, is a national initiative to encourage literary reading. Our event was "The Great White Linen Gatsby Bash." We played croquet and lawn games (dressed in white linen, of course), enjoyed refreshments and a Celebrity Read Through of the book featuring local notables. It was great fun.

Books at Sow' Ear Antiques has thousands of titles, mostly modern fiction and 1st editions, for your enjoyment. Most books are hardbacks in mylar covers and priced at (mostly) paperback prices. We choose books based on condition. Unless a book is very rare, out of print or of exceptional literary merit, we'll pass on it if it isn't clean, tight and generally unblemished. Readers can expect a 25 or 30 year old book to have a few bruises, but books are also intrinsically beautiful and should look like they've been respected and well-treated. We like to find and sell books that have been written by people who we might consider our neighbors. For example: Dee Brown, Charles Portis, John Grisham, and Donald Harington—all native Arkansans.
